Homestead, Florida
has a population of approximately 31,909 and is the second oldest city in the Miami-Dade County region. The city lies at the southern end of Florida's turnpike, with US-1 continuing down to the Florida keys. There is a large USAF airbase at Homestead, and a small private airport. The city is home to the Homestead/Miami Speedway and the Homestead Sports Complex, Biscayne National Park and other attractions, making tourism a big part of the local economy. Homestead also serves as the gateway to the Florida Everglades. Homestead’s economy is growing by leaps and bounds each year, attracting many new businesses and a growing arts and cultural scene. It is less than an hours drive from Homestead to downtown Miami.
